Brief History and highlights-

Hi there!

My name’s Calvin and I play Clarinet and Saxophones, having completed Grade 8 AMEB in each instrument with an average mark of "A" through all the exams and am also continuing studies, working towards my certificate of performance.

I first learned music on Piano, then got my first Clarinet when I was 7. I have always enjoyed playing music whenever given the chance and have participated in music festivals, community bands and also playing in a band with my siblings, each of whom play a different instrument.

Some of my musical achievements include-

*Principal Clarinet for the Penrith Youth Orchestra 2018-21

*Guest performer for Excelsia College 2016-19

*1st, 2nd and 3rd Clarinet for South Pacific Concert Band 2015-2020

Apart from my music interests I have also involved myself socially in other fields including youth leadership, the elderly and special needs such as-

*Cared for children with mental disabilities on a 1 week camp

*Learn to Swim Assistant – Padstow RSL Swim Club

*St. John Cadet – St Johns Cadets Bankstown Division

*Music and Social Activities – Holy Spirit Aged Care

My Teaching Philosophy -

Having taught students from beginner to HSC level, my main aim is to help them attain their goals, whether it be help with school band music, improvising or sitting for exams endeavoring to ensure my students are able to understand music on a technical and interpretive level. and everyone learns at their own pace and in a different way. Music is fun to create and learn, and I hope to share that.

I love to explore different genres of music and have a particular love of Jazz and the works of John Coltrane, Duke Ellington and George Gershwin.
