Brief
History -
Hi,
I’m Charlotte and i've been teaching piano for quite a while now
to students off all ages and expertise and I have just completed my Bachelor
of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Composition where I
write contemporary classical music. Playing piano for most of my life
has allowed me to travel both nationally and internationally to locations
like Alaska and Bangkok to name a few for a one-woman show and to perfom
my compositional works. I also sing which has lead me to be the Musical
Director and Conductor of Sing Australia Gordon and Adult Glee Club.
Teaching Philosophy -
If
I put it simply, my teaching approach is always about the student. As
they begin to learn the basics and advance I encourage and support the
students interests, even if this does not go down the traditional route.
I’m happy to teach pop, classical, jazz-classical and more and in
all my lessons I teach theory and technique to advance the students understanding
of music and how to play healthily. I always make sure to check with my
students to see if they are enjoying their pieces and progress, resulting
in minimum time my students spend with me being three years!

Musical
interests-
I love any, and all types of music! I have recently enjoyed playing
tango, particularly by Piazzolla. As a classical pianist I love romantic
music such as Chopin and Debussy, but I equally enjoy any and all classical
music from Bach to modern classical such as Ludovico Einaudi. As a modern
Australian composer, I love new works particularly by the composer Elena
Kats-Chernin who writes beautiful piano music. Working with the choirs
that I do, I conduct and play many rock/pop songs from the 60s, 70s,
and 80s, and in Adult Glee Club I play and conduct more modern pop songs
from the 2000s and of today.
Style
of music taught-
As long as there is sheet music for it, I don’t mind!
